Manal Al-Sharif is a Saudi women’s rights activist who was arrested in 2011 for driving a car in Saudi Arabia, where it is not illegal. The story went global at the time, and she has subsequently received various awards and accolades. I felt motivated to make this video blog when I read her story while waiting for my roots to develop at the hairdressers.

Since the original video was made, Manal has appeared on TED talks, and continues to spread her message around the world.
